Dr. Cheng received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and his Medical Degree at Western University of Health Science. He completed his internship and residency at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Cheng is an assistant clinical professor at the UCI School of Medicine and Western University of Health Sciences. He also serves as the Chair of the Family Medicine Department and is a member of the Executive Committee at Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach. He is a past editorial board member of Patient Care, a national clinical journal for family physicians and internists.

Dr. Cheng has a strong belief that it is more important to give than to receive and volunteers his time to various non-profit and community organizations.
He is currently a staff physician for Pathways to Independence, a non-profit organization helping women at risk. Dr. Cheng also serves as a Reserve Deputy on the Search and Rescue Team for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, on both the Medical Unit and the Technical Rescue Unit. He is also a Community Disaster Preparedness instructor for the Sheriff’s Department.
