Dr. Barke is a native of Southern California. He attended college at The University of Southern California, medical school at U.C. Irvine, and completed his Family Practice internship and residency at U.C. Irvine Medical Center. Dr. Barke is a Board Certified Family Physician and has been in private practice in Newport Beach, California since 1993. Dr. Barke is an Assistant Clinical Professor at U.C. Irvine Medical Center. Dr. Barke is the medical director for a non-profit organization called Pathways to Independence. Pathways serves at-risk young women who are committed to turning their lives around. Pathways provides weekly counseling, weekly mentoring, a housing stipend, and free medical care.
Dr. Barke is on active staff at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, California where he has served as an elected member of the Medical Executive Committee and as chairman of the Department of Family Practice. Dr. Barke is a board member of the Orange County Medical Association, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Barke also serves as an expert medical reviewer for the Medical Board of California. In addition, Dr. Barke is a Technical Reserve in the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Dr. Barke is a frequent lecturer to other physicians on primary care topics. His hobbies include triathlons, surfing, skiing, golfing, and physical fitness. Dr. Barke is married to his high school sweetheart and has two children.
