Andrew Johnson is known for his passionate interest in helping executives attain fulfilling corporate or entrepreneurial employment. His expertise focuses on career transition coaching with a special emphasis on communication strategies, particularly the development of targeted career objectives, results-oriented resumes and effective presentation skills.

Andrew is founder of The Andrew Johnson Group, a Senior Vice President/Consultant with Lee Hecht Harrison, an international career management firm, and a career coach to executive alumni of UCLA’s Anderson Graduate School of Management.

He likes to say that, “My career provides living proof that people can adapt to change and find satisfying and rewarding employment.” Andrew began as a professional musician in the 60’s era playing with two well-known groups, Dick Dale and the Del Tones and the Righteous Brothers. His musical career ended abruptly when Andrew was drafted. He entered Officer Candidate School and spent eight years in a variety of command and staff positions, including tours of duty in Germany and Vietnam. As a U.S. Army officer, Andrew gained rich experiences in leadership and team building and was selected to lead the EOD team that accompanied President Nixon during his meetings in Paris with then French President Charles de Gaulle. Following his military service, Andrew worked in public accounting with the national CPA firm, Kenneth Leventhal & Co. (now Ernst & Young Kenneth Leventhal Real Estate Group).

Andrew started in the career transition field in 1980 first on hiring side as an executive recruiter. Subsequently, he joined Lee Hecht Harrison as a career transition Consultant in 1992. He is a certified Career Management Practioner and former President of the Association of Career Professionals International (ACPI), Orange County Chapter. He frequently serves as a guest lecturer and panel member on career transition issues. Active with local colleges and universities, Andrew is a member of the Executive Committee for the Women’s Opportunities Center, University of California, Irvine Extension. He is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton’s College of Business and Economics, where he was recognized with the Arthur Young Award for academic achievement.
