ANDREW JOHNSON

Andrew is known for a passionate interest in helping leaders to attain fulfilling work. He specializes in career transition coaching with an emphasis on career communication strategies including the development of targeted career objectives, results-oriented resumes, descriptive personal marketing plans, key interviewing skills and focused job search strategies. Andrew also helps his clients “get connected” with executive search firms.

Mr. Johnson’s career reaffirms that, despite unexpected change, people can reassess their professional and personal goals to find fulfilling employment. He likes to say, “I am living proof that people can adapt to change and find fulfilling employment.” Andrew’s career journey began as a professional musician, playing with two influential groups, Dick Dale and the Del Tones and the Righteous Brothers. His musical career ended abruptly when he was drafted. He completed Ordnance Officer Candidate School, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) training and subsequently served eight years in command and staff assignments, including tours in Germany and Vietnam. As an Army Officer, Andrew gained rich experiences in leadership and team building. He left the Army as a Captain to complete his Bachelor’s degree.

Early in his business career Andrew joined Kenneth Leventhal & Co., a national CPA firm, which subsequently merged with the “Big-8” (now “Big-4”) firm, Ernst & Young.

His experience in career transition coaching began in executive recruiting with a focus on financial management executives. In 1992 Andrew joined Lee Hecht Harrison (LHH) www.lhh.com, a highly-respected international outplacement firm as a Career Coach. In 2003, due to a changing business environment, and in full accord with LHH, Andrew founded The Andrew Johnson Group, a career coaching practice that assists executives who are in transition without the benefit of corporate-sponsored outplacement, or are currently employed and considering new career opportunities. He left LHH in 2012 as a Senior Vice President, Career Coach, to devote 100% of his time to The Andrew Johnson Group.

Mr. Johnson is a certified career management practitioner (CMP) and former President of the Association of Career Professionals International, Orange County Chapter. In addition, he serves as a Career Coach with experienced alumni of local graduate schools of business including UCLA and UCI. Andrew graduated cum laude from California State University, Fullerton’s College of Business and Economics, where he received the Arthur Young Award for academic excellence.
